Unlocking Efficiency in Window Installation: MTM-SAM Analysis Confirms the Advantages of Click-In

In the construction industry, efficiency is key. Every minute saved both off-site and on-site translates to cost reductions, improved workflows, and increased productivity. To better understand and quantify the advantages of the Click-In system compared to traditional window installation methods, we conducted an MTM-SAM analysis with Jan Oscarsson, a certified SAM-technician at Innovatum Science Park. The results are clear: Click-In significantly reduces installation time while improving ergonomics and consistency.

What is MTM-SAM?

MTM-SAM (Sequence-based Activity and Method analysis) is a standardized method for measuring work efficiency, originally developed in collaboration with major industry players such as VOLVO, ASEA, and SAAB-SCANIA. This method allows for a structured breakdown of installation processes, ensuring an accurate comparison of different work methods.

For our analysis, we compared two window installation techniques:

  • The Click-In system, where brackets are pre-mounted on the window frame, requiring minimal on-site preparation.
  • The traditional fixing lug method, which involves multiple steps, including mounting fixing lugs, positioning wedges, and securing the window with screws.

Key Findings: A Faster, Smarter Installation Method

The analysis demonstrated a significant efficiency advantage for the Click-In system:

  • Total time saved: 532 seconds per window—a 66.5% reduction compared to traditional methods.

To put this in perspective, traditional installation takes over 13 minutes per window, whereas Click-In reduces this to just 4.5 minutes under ideal conditions. This means installers can fit nearly three times as many windows in the same time frame.

Why This Matters for the Building Industry

Efficiency improvements in construction have a direct impact on project timelines, labor costs, and overall profitability. The Click-In system addresses multiple challenges:

For Builders and Installers:

  • Increased Productivity: Faster installation means more windows can be installed per shift, reducing project delays.
  • Improved Working Conditions: The simplified process reduces physical strain by minimizing repetitive screwing and manual wedging.
  • Fewer Errors: The standardized method ensures consistent, high-quality installation with less room for mistakes.

For Window Manufacturers:

  • Added Value for Customers: Offering pre-mounted Click-In brackets differentiates manufacturers in the market by providing an installation-friendly solution.
  • Compatibility with Prefabrication: As offsite construction grows, faster and standardized installation methods like Click-In become essential.
  • Better Lifecycle Management: Easier replacement and reuse of windows align with circular economy principles.

The Future of Window Installation

The results of the MTM-SAM analysis confirm that innovation in installation methods can bring substantial benefits to both builders and manufacturers. As the industry moves toward increased efficiency and sustainability, adopting faster, more ergonomic, and standardized solutions, Click-In will be a competitive advantage.

By investing in smarter installation systems, companies can optimize labor resources, reduce project costs, and improve long-term building performance. The time for change is now—Click-In is paving the way for the next generation of window installation.
